VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality is usually a computer-generated virtual world (or computer systems) in which the user Has the sensation of being in the interior of this world, and depending on the level of immersion this can interact with this world and the objects of the same to one degree or another. However the term virtual reality can also be applied to other virtual worlds generated by other means, such as through imagination (dreams, books, movies, etc ...) The ideal virtual reality would be that from a total immersion allow us An interaction without limits with the virtual world, besides giving us at least the same senses we have in the real world (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell). However, most current systems focus on only 2 senses (sight and hearing), due to the difficulties and costs of simulating the other senses
As for the types of RV, this can be subdivided in different ways:
TYPE OF IMMERSION
VIRTUAL INMERSIVE REALITY
Is achieved a total immersion through peripherals (virtual reality helmets, glasses, positioners, HDM ...), to the point of disappearing the world real.
REALITY VIRTUAL SEMIINMERSIVA
We interact with the virtual world, but without being submerged in it, for example through a monitor. This type of RV is very common in videogames today as it does not require any special hardware.
INDIVIDUAL OR SHARED
HUMAN MACHINE

Only one person per virtual world can interact. Example of this type of Rv would be non-multijugated videogames, 3D cinemas, etc ...
HUMAN MACHINE
It is possible that more than one person share the same virtual world interaction at the same time with the same / Or between them.

·        Educational medicine, for example for simulating
·        CAD operations (computer aided designs). It allows to see and interact with objects before they are created, with the obvious cost savings.
·        Creation of virtual environments (museums, shops, classrooms, etc ...).
·        Treatment of phobias. (Aerophobia, arachnophobia, claustrophobia, etc.)
·        Games, 3D Cinema and all kinds of entertainment.

AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality consists of including the physical universe, virtual elements in real time. Using glasses or other special devices, a person can observe the real world with certain elements added, which appear on their lenses or screen as digital information. 'The concept of augmented reality, therefore, refers to an increase in the information that a human being can obtain by himself in interacting with the physical world. The system provides more data for those who can register through the senses.

MAIN ELEMENTS A camera or element that captures the images we see around us. Its main function is to transmit the Real world information to the augmented reality system processor to combine both worlds. "The processor, which will interpret both the real-world information that comes to it through the camera and the information it must superimpose on this real world, is the element that integrates the two worlds.
Images created by the processor and through the screen where the image is reproduced, the 3D model that gives us the augmented reality. If we move the marker the 3D model will move with it, it will change. Which makes the use of mobile devices so attractive in conjunction with augmented reality These elements calculate the position of our device Examples: compass, GPS and accelerometer.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VIRTUAL REALITY AND AUGMENTED REALITY
Although augmented reality and virtual reality look like similar terms represent quite different things. Both technologies have advanced a long time to this part and surely will continue to do so in the years to come. If you do not know the main differences between these two technologies we invite you to read our article and begin to understand what is augmented reality and what virtual reality.
Virtual reality and augmented reality
When speaking of augmented reality, what is tried is to perfect reality, to add things to it through our senses. Overlay other artificial realities that combine with reality to offer a better deal with it.
On the other hand virtual reality tries to replace reality through devices that allow us to "feel" that we find ourselves in another place, immerse ourselves in a reality that does not exist, transport us to a constructed reality, a virtual reality.

It is clear that both technologies share many points in common but their goal is quite different. This can be seen with some of the latest devices of augmented reality and virtual reality launched to the market.
